Tiny Texas House Tours Times and Updates as of 01/12/2017

This is an update letting everyone know more about the unique tour of the village of Tiny Texas Houses that make up Salvage, Texas.

The hour and a half long tour, we are is now starting at 11:00 on and Saturday’s through end of February or until further notice.

Just so you know…. We are not open for visitors except by appointment during the week, and then it is generally from 10-5.

Private tours for two will continue by appointment for $70 and will apply toward the purchase of a house, of course. We walk about a 1/2 mile by the time the tour is over and back to the front are, longer if you go to the top of Miracle Mountain.

The tour includes seeing as many as 12 Tiny Texas Houses that I have built including the first one, the Red Mascot, which is now on tour again. We show you the difference between the prototypes that I started with and the Space Magic effect that I apply now. The group tours are on Wednesday and Saturday and cost $20 per adult which will apply to the cost of a house if you do get one. Kids under 12 are free. Private tours are $70 for two people and call for larger groups, keeping in mind, it takes about an hour to 90 minutes to get through the whole tour. Starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday’s. The tour includes seeing as many as 12 Tiny Texas houses that I have built including the first one, the Red Mascot, which is now on tour again. We go through from the framing stages to the finished stages with a great deal of discussion on the issues that are involved in creating a toxin free body and a sustainably built, energy efficient, toxin free organic house.

That also includes my lecture about all the issues in new construction are that are making nearly everyone sick and thus hopefully educating the visitors and hearing their stories they share about how new homes or things like vinyl windows have given them cancer, fibromyalgia, lupus, and other immune system disorders that are rarely disclosed to buyers of newly constructed houses, RV’s, and mobile homes. This is serious stuff folks, for the stories of leukemia, cancer, and sickness are rampant and directly associated with the formaldehyde and chemicals outgassing in the houses we live in today. I can not help but be sure to cover and emphasize this in order to help prevent ignorance from continuing this insanity for another generation. The evidence is undeniable and attributable to the increased in Autism, cancer, and immune system disorders without question. Doctors, builders, and lawyers will all most likely be upset by my talk for I do not take their feelings into consideration when defining who is largely to blame, failing to warn people, and protecting the industries contributing to this insanity continuing.

Here is the end view without the railing yet.

We do have a couple of Tiny Texas Houses nearly finished for sale, The Retreat and White Swan, but they are a bit taller than normal and would be a pain to get shipped to far out of Texas, particularly going EAST. In the meantime, you get to see three great houses under construction so as to see the process.

You can see the difference in the color of the metal skirting once it is oiled. Incidentally, this is a boiled Linseed oil on this house as opposed to the Tung Oil we normally use.

Here are the houses and a couple shots of the warehouse that is on the tour normally. In some cases, if someone is spending the night or weekend in one of the houses, it may be on a more limited exposure tour. Here are some of the sights to see and be part of physically experiencing because everyone who goes into a newer version of a Tiny Texas House with the Space Magic at work will understand how space is truly a matter of perception.

The tours do cost $20 per adult, kids under 12 free, some exceptions for large groups, classes from school, and special appnt. tours require calling in advance for special scheduling as well. It is not unusual for us to have over twenty guests so bringing cash instead of using cards or checks does speed up the check in process so we appreciate you for thinking of that ahead of time too.

Vicky One is the first Victorian I built and she is only 10' x 17'. That would seem like a much bigger house now with the newer designs, but still it is a great house to stay in, as I did when I lived in it for a year. Several others have lived there as well so we know it works good. It has a toilet (regular 1/2 flush, will have a shower, a bath sink, kitchenette, and a great tiny loft besides the living area.

The Kidd is a baby that may be occupied but you will see what a 67 sf house can be. Shower, Kitchenette, and bedroom with a desk upstairs.

Yes, with a bit more paint, and a few more things to do, this will be available for those who want to stay for a night or two.

The Blue Moon also has a bed for sleeping below and in the loft with a big table to sit at and play games, cards, or eat a nice dinner, but no kitchen so you will have to bring it along. There is a bath on the front porch that has a toilet, sink, and small shower so that leaves lots of space in the 12' x 20' Tiny Texas House.

Vicky Too will have a bed downstairs and a loft bed up for the younger folks. This has AC, a kitchenette for morning coffee or a bit more, and a bath that will have a shower, and water efficient toilet in house.

From the shade you can see the view, catch a breeze, listen to the frogs if they are croaking in the eve. The birds are chirping in the early morning.

The Gingered Swan sits across from the ponds and Miracle Mountain where the trail to the top is a Fibonacci Spiral walk. Luckily there is nearly always a breeze at the top.

In the distance on the other side of the dam is the Bear House which may be on tour too soon.

The front view is unusual, the posts Redwood and odd, for they do not match each other as they were turned from one log.

I thought those looked like strong enough beams.

Temple Tantra, my personal master suite, will likely be on tour most of the time too. It is the most unusual of the Tiny Texas Houses on site, but not necessarily the most unique of those we have created so far.

Tang wasn't sure about having Little Sister join us out in Tantra but it seems to have gone just fine. Since they are both fixed, there does not seem to be any drama.

Temple Tantra has a large den that will easily hold 4 people for a conversation. It is a great office as well. This is the glass that is already sitting above the bath area on the back porch below this room. The one we will build will not be as tall as Tantra, which is about 4' taller than normal as I do not plan to take it down the highway.

Oh yes, we do have another Gypsy Wagon in progress so you will get to see it too, as well as:

The new Gypsy has caught my eye and may in fact be the one I move to next if I can afford it. That might mean selling Temple Tantra though, so its a long shot.

Sometimes we also roam by the Bear House to show a two story 10′ x 10′ prototype if people want to see it too.

Down below where I too Mike Rowe on his Somebody's got to do it show. Feel the coolness from the water kept below at 65 degrees or less year round. Dug during the drought a few years ago, this year is turning out to be dry for the last month here now but there is still water below.

So just in case you do not know, we are not open except for appointment during the week, and then it is generally from 10-5. The group tours are on Wednesday and Saturday and cost $20 per adult which will apply to the cost of a house if you do get one. Private tours are $70 for two people and call for larger groups not scheduling on a regular time such as schools and tour buses. We do not have the manpower or time to escort people through when ever they just happen by and can not let people wander unescorted due to the many hazards and prior injury where a lady took 13 stitches in her calf from a fall. Thank you for understanding and calling if you have special needs or questions.
