Yes, we are getting down to the wire and at present, given we are just in the early stages of building out membership up, there will likely be less than 500 contenders for the first Essay Contest Prize that will include: Must be a member by March 1st to have the 30 days membership required to win the Essay Contest that begin on the first and end on the last day of each month, if the first few are successful and the membership grows so as to support more contests every month.
Believe it or not, we will be giving away a giant package of Pure Salvage Building materials for an Organic House or Cottage each month for the next year as part of my “Spreading the Pure Salvage Living Building Drive”. It will include the parts one would use to help create a sustainable house using many other parts for walls, such as salvaged lumber for framing, straw bale, compressed earth, monolithic domes, or container homes…. the parts will work for all of them. Just what is included? Each month I will give away a package to include up to:
1 Front door
1 Bathroom door
7- windows 4 big for down, 2 for up in gables, 1 for kitchen
500 sf- of vintage tin for roof and some of the siding
250 sf- of T&G flooring in a Long Leaf Pine
4- 4×4 antique beams for a loft.
200 sf- of Cypress or Long Leaf siding
100 sf- of beaded wood for wainscot
1- bathroom sink
1- Kitchen sink
2- sets of cabinet doors and drawers vintage in wood.
50 sf- Vintage roof shingles for shower walls.
Some of the houses you could build with this kit are well known in our collection. Add the cool windows, ornamental metal, shingles for the shower included too.
That would cost retail customers somewhere around $3,000 -$8,000 depending on the package of the month that we use, such as the first. If we increase the membership substantially each month then the next prize package will be even better and include more parts. I plan to take pictures of each month before the essay for that prize so people could actually practice designing with the set offered as we go through the month showing what could be done so that who ever gets it has some great ideas to start. This contest is based on us then the following up with the winners to see the path they choose to take with the nest egg of Pure Salvage Booty they won.
Of all the types of Contests that we will have over the next year…. The biggest advantage will be in the first contest as there are less members to compete with so perhaps a few hundred instead of the thousand or more I expect by the time we give away 11 months and people see what they are missing out on by not being a member of Puresalvageliving.com. I am sure thought, that like with the Essay Contest House I gave away before, latecomers missed out and got upset that I would not have another essay for them too. , this will run for a year and the new entries will combine with older 2 or 3rd place competitors still in the ring through out the year. If we get a month of dud essays or none, one of the past could win as well as someones updated version. ( I always see my mistakes after I send off my writing it seems so this will give people a chance to get it right)
You could nearly build two of these with the first package of materials we are offering as it does not need so many windows as it is only 80 sf on the first floor.[/caption]
Come visit, even invest in a Tiny House in Salvage, Texas and have it here to give you income, depreciation so that the government pays for it, be ready for the SHTF moment with a back up outside of the city, or just build houses somewhere once you learn how.

So what do you think so far?
While not all of you will need to build a house, it will get someone who does and this will take them well into the process of building their own house… which is what the essay is all about. How are you preparing and planning to build your Organic Cottage in the future?
Lots of possible answers and scenarios which we will pull from and publish each month, then follow up and see what they do with the packages of materials that each of the members wins. Perhaps some will get together and build a house or two, or twelve…. so I dream.
The core elements of the first essay will ideally include the reasoning behind why one wants to create their home out of a large percentage, if not 95% Pure Salvage. The things involved, from finding a place to build one, getting the tools, help, place to store and build at, or if onsite, logistics for making that possible with electric, weather protections while building, and having the authorities of all sorts allow you to do what you have in mind. Each of these facets open the doors to what can go wrong if you do not anticipate it in advance. This is the best way to start your project and the essays will enable us to look at what the goal is, the path intended to get there, and how this package of materials will help make that possible. Ideally the goal of the essay contest is to spot people who are far enough along with the visualization of their dream to own an Organic Cottage one day. It addresses their awareness of the issues with building toxic boxes to call tiny houses without consideration for the health of all who will live in there, from pets, to parents, babies to you.
The rules about being in English, with a decent use of the language so that most could understand and thus participate in the judging, or sharing the understanding of the issues that many people deal with in the struggle to break free and live this simpler and healthier lifestyle. This is about raising the awareness of what it takes to manifest a tiny house in your life or help someone else create such a solution for themselves instead of ending up homeless. These are paths to empowerment, to a secure financial future, to a community that cares about the people and the planet which they help preserve by the lifestyle they live.
You could even create a cottage like the Blue Moon or Vicky One for simplicity. Even the Bear House which is only 10′ x 10′ on first floor.
If you have ever thought of living in an Organic Cottage and downsizing to what some would consider extreme, you can come test drive some different sized floor plans and sizes of diminutive houses.
How about you? Are you a member of the Pure Salvage Living website? Do you want to learn how to do this? Seminars are free for members, but the chance to win this is also only available to members too. If you join by March 1st, you will be able to win the first of the Essay Contests for the Pure Salvage Living Building Materials Package. I am guessing there will be less than 500 people the first time. What are your odds? How good are you at writing a story that will capture the hearts and imagination of the judge… or judges. Method of judging will vary each month. Some may include the public but most likely just members will get to vote for the winner of the contest along with the Judge, most likely me to start.
Anyone remember the Essay Contest House we gave away a few years ago?
Here is the ladder stair folded up against the wall. We offer the plans to create this clever tuck away system. Here is the folded up version that shows how it opens the path to the bath.

Want to become a member fast and get started???? https://puresalvageliving.com/become-a-puresalvageliving-com-get-up-to-free-set-of-plans-or-bb-stay-or-both-free/ This link will take you to a page to tell you more and depending on when you read this, a special that was going on for the membership when that blog was written.
This special offer starts February 1st for all present members and new members. The first prize package will be given away at the end of March. If it goes well, we will give another away the next month and is more members keep signing up and showing interest, we will continue. We reserve the right to discontinue this contest at any time and for any reason after the first round and prize are given. That is just in case you should be thinking there will be many more, join later… maybe not if we do not see the interest level thus find that many of our followers that are interested or can not string 300-500 words together so we will like reading them. Judging is no easy chore. You will need to be a member to win a package of materials. Essay guidelines are simple and only require about 300-500 words. Not less, for the ideas that must be shared to win can not be as simple as some I got in the essay contest we once gave a house away in years ago. Some people sent in a one sentence essay…” I want the house so give it to me.” Yep.
I will be sending a News letter out to all members on the end of February that will give the final address to send in your essay contest entries and how to separate the name from the essay, give it a alpha numeric way to identify, such as the abbreviation for the state you are in and a number over 10. Yes, the sort of little details that could get some one close but no cigar in a contest like this. Yes it will matter what is said in the essay, both the words used and not used in that the emotions and other factors in a good essay, the dreams you have, must be able to manifest in the minds of those who read it so as to grasp the full depth of your sincerity, clarity, determination, wit, humor, or the hard cold facts that you believe will win you the prize.
Please join us for the next year as we launch a community based on the Pure Salvage Living Renaissance that I believe will bring solutions to millions of people in the next decade. For more information please visit the Youtube channel for Pure Salvage Living. and read the hundreds of photoblogs that will teach you how to build tiny houses out of Salvage.
