Salvage, Texas is coming fully to life in 2015

Here is a Logo we are considering for the signage at Salvage, Texas.

The invitation for inquiry is here by issued for those around the world who want to have a unique and private space outside the box to run to and live free for a while.

Salvage, Texas is a town that is going to be manifested from 99% Salvaged Materials, Tiny Houses, and organic principles.

It will be an intentional community focusing on developing solutions through creating a social experiment where the participants can apply their knowledge and creative energies toward developing a town that is able to function on or off grid.  It is intended to be a permaculture based growth where each acre produces a sort of food jungle where nearly all things we plant produce food.

Already we have Pecans, cactus, Muscadine grapes, mesquite for the beans, Blackberries, and more but we have also tapped a vein of pre-ice age top soil that we are excavating from 20′ below the ground since it still has supple roots in it and incredibly nutritious soil. It sits beneath 15′ of Bentonite clay and glacial sand, but is very accessible with our excavator and other big boy toys on site. (Want to play with big toys?)

The opportunity is here to craft a town from our imagination, with a market and restaurant to support it, along with a few other retail outlets here on the side of IH 10 in the heart of Texas.  There is also a huge opportunity to craft many other things as well and a planned market to sell it in so we have a great way to pull down some income for the whole town.

Looking for a few great people to come along and join us in this effort to create a model that can be duplicated later if others find the results worthy.  I believe in what we can create from our ingenuity and plan to continue proving what can be done with Salvage on a grand scale by showing how to build a town with it that is capable of going off the grid and still surviving well.  It can’t hurt to have a great back up plan in place if the need arises.  For those who live in the city or near the coast, could this be your bug out place?  Please take a look and see, then perhaps we can talk.

Vicky in the Mist is one of the most popular as it was used on over 147 sites in the early days of the Tiny House boom.  This is now known as Vicky Too and is lived in out in the first village area.  Behind them you see the Blue Gambrel, Vicky One, the Red Mascot, and the Blue Moon.  Only the Blue Gambrel move away.  These were the originals upon which Tiny Texas Houses was built.

The Red Mascot was my first Tiny Texas House that I built and it still sits out front where it watches the passers by and has a 290 degree view of the beautiful Texas Sunrises and sunsets. We have been blessed with many double rainbows overhead.

We are going to be providing spaces to put tiny houses in and they will be paid for with participation instead of cash by the people who are contributing to making Salvage, Texas manifest as a town with our own government, building codes, and marketplace.  Yes, we only need 54 people who can vote as residents to create our own incorporated town in Texas.  We are creating one without incorporating first, then going for the whole jalapeño  Those who join us in this endeavor will be able to live here virtually for free because they can work to help manifest the town in exchange for the utilities as well as the space for a Tiny House.  You would still need to buy your house but it would be portable and thus you could take it down the road to another village one day, your own property, or just sell it to another person who wants to live here if you choose to leave as there will be a very limited number of house spaces available on the 43 acres presently included in Salvage, Texas.   We also offer a plan where by you could make a 9% return on your investment into the house while you are traveling part of the year, like up north when it is warm, and we will take care of it, let people stay in it to experience an organic house, maintain it for you, pay the taxes on it, and have it ready for your return when you decide to come back again.

Nice thing about a portable appreciating asset is, you can take it away one day if you want to.

I don’t like to see our creations l;eave, but off he goes to the cold north winds.

One  perspective for a group of people to share the cost of a house and come at different months to stay and be part of the village.  Spring, and Fall for the faint of heat or cold, though normally our winters are mild.  This year seems to be an exception already as we have hit 28 degrees F at night and it is barely mid November.
We will have some paying and intern positions with Tiny Texas Houses that would produce income for certain people and expect to have some positions available focusing on the development of the property, including carpentry, electrical, drafting, and business development of the market/flea market designed around all things used, salvaged, crafted from pieces of the past, a restaurant, and other artistic ventures.  The market will not be intended for or permit freshly imported consumerism based junk.  So architectural antiques, salvaged materials, antique furnishings, American made products designed around off grid and Earth conscious living. Organic foods, farmers market, organic clothes, and hopefully a section focusing on Holistic health treatments by various alternative health care providers.

This is a big vision but we are moving forward and looking for the people who might want to be part of this. Older people are desired for the knowledge from the past about how to grow, work, and take care of children lies in a generation about to be lost, for we have taught very few of the youngest generation how to survive it the lights go out yet there are still people alive who remember how because they grew up without these luxuries.  We have electricity, city water (yuck without filtering), sewer but like composting better, and hope to show all that can be done if we are determined to prove it.

The White Swan is being offered up for sale in hopes that someone will like and want to own it and keep it here.  For that it would be less expensive and the return would be good whether living in it full time or just part of the year.  Imagine having a month or few away then letting one of the partners who share stewardship/ownership of the house also getting escape time and sharing an income from the times you could not use it that is many times what banks pay on savings accounts.  Can it get better?  Just 45 minutes out of Austin, San Antonio, and an hour and a half or two to Houston or the gulf.

Interested, email us and let us know a bit about you, what your dreams are, and how we might work together to fulfill them.  This in not for everyone and certainly not for the meek as it will be a challenge to form and demonstrate to the rest of the world what can actually be done to help save the resources we have been gifted with rather than throw them away and have nothing left for the children that will follow us and wonder how to survive without import dependency, social welfare, or the government coming in and taking control of our lives.  This is intended to show just how free we could be from the chains of consumerism and the American Dream of a giant house, big car, and fancy clothes to show off in at the restaurants and bars that people seem to like to spend so much time in, or the other traps we get into if we live the consumerism lifestyle.

If you are interested, have some means to participate, and want to possibly be part of something bigger than any of us individually can be, please get in touch and let us know so that we can pursue finding a way to manifest this vision so all can benefit down the road from the creative solutions those who come here can create.

We may even be producing a TV show to put this out there where the world can also see what could be done if we just set our minds to the task.  It would help if you want to be part of that too, but for now no promises, just hope and a few things already going our way.

Thanks for your interest, for sharing this, and for your support as we try to once more do the impossible.
