Here are a couple of great articles that show how tiny houses were instrumental in rebuilding both San Francisco and Chicago after their fires. These forms of houses are what later made Sears and Roebuck as well as Montgomery Wards common household names because they literally sold whole houses in kit form all over the world. The made, packaged, and shipped, over 100,000 houses that would amaze most people today and there are some great books out on the subject.
