As We Loaded The Wood From The Outbuildings Onto The Trailer To Go Home, You Can See The Pole Barn Before We Started Taking It Down. This Was Just After The First Part Of The New Berlin Salvage Bootcamp. While Large In Size, There Was Really Very Little Of Great Value. In Fact We Are Burning All Of The Wood As It Was Full Of Wood Bores And To New For Us To Use On Anything As It Was Already Breaking Down Structurally With Less Than 20 Years Exposure To The Weather.

The biggest structure collapses politely, safely, and quickly

Here is a pole barn that was in New Berlin with some corrugated that we did not put a great deal of value in saving it for reuse on a roof. The winds will rip it off as the tin will tear around the nails, thus the reason we do not seek out new tin barns to tear down ordinarily, but this was part of a bigger project, the New Berlin Bootcamp started with a house, garage, carport, several buildings, and this great barn.

Due to the condition of the wood above in the trusses and the quality of it being debatable, so rather than risk anyones health, we just pulled the posts out of the ground and let the top fall down in a calculated way that would let us pull the metal roof off afterwards.

Oh yes, at the end is a chance to be in a Farmhouse Salvage Bootcamp for FREE if you are a Pure Salvage Living Member.

Here is where we started.

Much easier to carry them over to the place they go too. Boy that would be hard any other way by hand.

There used to be a house and outbuildings scattered all about here. Now you could hardly ever tell. In a year, only a good eye will spot the difference from a field.

You can see how Taki lifts the pole right out of the ground. Major time saver.

Here we are making sure that they are going to stay engaged for the duration of the lift. The chain is wrapped around the pole two or three times so as to bind when pulled upwards. In this case it was over 5' in the ground. This could not have been done with a much smaller toy than this 90+ horsepower diesel Takuichi Trac monster. I love this toy.

Here you can see the busy bees turning trash to treasure as we sort, de-nail, and load the other materials that were better than most houses we have taken down in the past.

The garage boards will hopefully all be kept together so that we can replicate elements of this picturesque old garage.

Now this is some serious beaded wood, 3 1/2" wide and 3/4" thick with a tongue and groove. This is deluxe wainscot that was in the laundry area off the back porch.

Incredible planks on the side walls of the out buildings formed up the pass through garage.

An inside look at one of the outbuildings. We found lots of goodies amongst the trash but no incredible treasures.

So there you see the fastest way I know to take down a pole barn that is risky on condition and not long on valuable roofing materials. This was essentially a two day project and there was little more than the telephone poles and the tin to show for it.

These parts and pieces will likely go to help build the Salvagefaire market areas. Stay tuned and see.

Next week a project coming down in Shiner, Texas. If you read this far than you will also get to know first that it is a free Bootcamp for two weekdays of this coming week, for Members only. Get an email to us at info@puresalvageliving.com
